Arty updates and a fun day...

Just doing this quickly before heading into town to collect my new sewing machine (wahoo!)...

We had a really lovely day yesterday with Joy and Calum... Daniel just adores other kids and I think him and Calum are going to be wonderful friends. We went to the beach, Calum collected shells while Daniel threw rocks and run around like a mad thing, then we went to the park and the two boys had so much fun. Then we went to Sainsbury's for lunch and the lovely Calum very kindly shared his shreddies with Daniel - it was so cute to watch :) while we talked about arty stuff and courses for the summer... and then off to B&Q to spend some money :) The wee man was so excited about it all and when he woke up from his sleep he was talking away and kept saying something that sounded very like "Calum"... aww... here's a wee photo of the boys having fun...

Daniel was sitting in front of the TV this morning holding on tight to his Pooh bear that he just loves so much, he just looked so cute and it was just a picture of what he is like now that I had to take a photo!

and now onto arty stuff... this is some of the stuff I have been doing all week, there is other stuff but I don't want to over load poor blogger with photos, plus I'm too lazy to re-size them all!
First here's the image transfers that I did onto muslin...

I'm so happy with how they turned out :)

Next is some bees wax image transfers. The first one didn't turn out well at all. I reckon it was due to the type of image that I was using.

The next one is just me playing around with gesso/brayer/big&Juicy inkpads and some stamps with stazon

I'll upload some more when I get the chance :)

Playing

Last week I joined a yahoo group called Art Techniques... to say that I am inspired is an understatement! There are some wonderful girls on there who are willing to share how they do things and to teach others... that combined with the Beryl Taylor book that Joy very kindly gave me, my brain is buzzing with ideas, and I can't wait until my sewing machine arrives... ooh and the big melt pot that just fell in my shopping basket when looking for stuff for Teresa ooopssss... Hoping that they are here for Thursday as mum is coming up and she can help me with the machine!

I've been up to so many things this week, sorry I haven't uploaded them but again having the on going saga of losing the camera or the card reader... ah the joys of having a little man who likes shiney things... I'm sure he was a magpie in a former life...

We're off out today to the beach with our friends Joy and Calum :) Looking forward to it :)

Faux Dichronic and Canvas

Some pics of the stuff I was talking about earlier :) Had to save the memory card reader from the camera from the wee man's toy box... wee people take over your whole life...

Dichronic glass first, photo doesn't do it justice...

Some of the canvas I have been working on, still not done, but almost there...

Experimentation

Well I've had a crafty type day, making watercolour backgrounds using DH's watercolours (shhh... don't tell) and the fabby watercolour crayons that Joy got me for my birthday (thanks again hon!)... oh and using Adirondak colour wash sprays (which apparently you should use gloves for, now my hands resemble that of a smurfs despite many washes...), but the main one was making some faux Dichronic glass. The first attempt was awful. I only have the teeny tiny 7gypsies melt pot, so the bigger pieces of glass didn't sit flat on the surface, but still gave it a go... well waited half an hour on the UTEE melting and gave up... then realised that it might work better if I used a smaller piece, so I did and now I have a fabby piece (if I do say so myself) of faux dichronic glass sitting in front of me, which should hopefully be made up into a piece of jewelery if I can figure out how to mount it... I can see Ranger getting some more of my money in the form of a real melt pot... oh and the amazing Opal Embossing powder that I acquired in Australia works brilliant for this, handy that you don't have to mix your own colours of UTEE, which I have yet to fully grasp the correct technique to get a uniform colour...

Have also been working on my big canvas for the house, I think it's nearly there, just know that is needs something else... will go away and come back to it later...

Will post pics later...

Just received a fabby parcel from the lovely Diz over at Altered Treasures lots of lovely stuff including the Rhonna Farrer Epiphany papers, some sea glass (to practice making faux Dichronic glass) and this months CPS :) It's magic, now when am I going to get the time to do all this stuff?

Leaving you with a photo of the wee man taken in Surfer's Paradise... here comes trouble!

Arty boy and who does DIY at 8pm?

Who does DIY at 8pm? My neighbours that's who... not good when you have a baby who is grouchy... so after 4 rounds of "10 in the bed" (as in there was 40 in the bed in total) he's finally asleep and I can get on with life...

The wee man is a budding artist, he no longer thinks crayons are just for eating! Yay! at not having to pick out various colours of wax from his mouth (risking life and limb while you do it) or panicking that my 14 month old has got tooth decay, only to find that it is actually the reminants of the black crayon... now he draws on the paper in a series of lines :) yay!

Friday was the first day of the Photography workshop run by Cheryl at Feel Good Photos.

We're obviously not allowed to give out too many details about the class, so I'll just upload the photos, and they'll probably speak for themselves.

Spent the afternoon at Steph's shop Forgetmenot Papercrafts, where her fabulous displays and new stamps persuaded me to part with more money.

Right, off to try to do some stuff, going to try out some of the Pencil Lines girl's sketches.

Long time No blog

oops.

Well there has been a whole lot going on here, plus we've spent a month in sunny australia, so I have an excuse!

Just joined up to a new course on photography, so as part of our first assignment we had to take a self potrait which included our name so that we couldn't be sneaky and use an old one *doh*...

so anyway, here is mine... tried to do something a bit different from the old hold the camera at arms length and grin...
